Hello!
I’m Rob Ride, a VFX Supervisor with 15 years experience in Film, Television, and Commercials. I started my career as a runner at DNEG London. Here, I had the opportunity to work across many departments, eventually making my way to becoming an FX artist. Following this, I was involved in the creation of a boutique studio, The Brewery, which specialises in Indie Films and Music Videos. Eventually, I moved back to my home town of Melbourne and joined Airbag, an award winning production company focused on Advertising, as a VFX Supervisor.
I’m passionate about film making and believe VFX is there to serve the story first and foremost. I love to be involved at the start of a job, assisting the production with pre-vis and concept design. I want to make beautiful, authentic VFX.
Lastly (for the VFX artists) I’m a Houdini Evangelist. I try to do as much as I can in Houdini, Modelling, Animating, FX and Lighting. When you work procedurally you reap the rewards. How good is Houdini?!
